Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum, Opiyo Wandayi, convened a historic consultative meeting with 35 Members of the County Assembly from Siaya County, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. George Okode. The gathering was a powerful demonstration of unity, collective responsibility, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of the people of Siaya.

The high-level forum brought together the majority of the county’s elected leadership to deliberate on key development priorities, governance issues, and strategies for enhancing collaboration between the National and County Governments.

Discussions focused on accelerating service delivery, unlocking investment opportunities, and ensuring that all parts of Siaya benefit from ongoing and future government programs.
A major outcome of the meeting was the adoption of far-reaching resolutions with significant political and developmental implications.

Leaders unanimously reaffirmed their dedication to advancing transformative development initiatives, strengthening government coordination, and championing projects that directly improve the lives of wananchi through improved infrastructure, healthcare, education, energy access, agriculture, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of political unity as a driver of development.

Recognizing the need for cohesive and forward-looking leadership, the leaders pledged to rally behind ODM Party Leader Hon. Oburu Oginga while fostering constructive collaboration with UDA and other like-minded political formations. The aim is to create a broad-based, inclusive, and progressive coalition in the lead-up to the 2027 General Election.


The consultative forum reflected a growing consensus that the future of Siaya depends on unity of purpose, mature leadership, and a shared commitment to delivering tangible results for the people. It reinforced the notion that development transcends political differences and that the aspirations of wananchi must remain at the center of all leadership decisions.


As Siaya positions itself for greater growth and prosperity, the resolutions reached mark a defining moment in strengthening political goodwill, enhancing intergovernmental cooperation, and building a solid foundation for sustainable development.

The message from the county’s leadership was clear: united by a common vision, Siaya is poised to move forward stronger, faster, and more determined than ever to secure a brighter future for its people.
