Nairobi, Kenya, July 8, 2026 — Ugunja Member of Parliament Moses Omondi has intensified efforts to attract key investments to the constituency after holding a strategic meeting with senior officials from Equity Bank Kenya aimed at facilitating the establishment of a bank branch in Ugunja Town.

The meeting, held at Britam Towers in Nairobi, brought together the MP, Equity Bank Kenya Managing Director Moses Nyabanda, and the bank’s Head of Business Performance and Strategic Execution, Tom Osolo.

According to the MP, the discussions focused on expanding access to financial services by opening an Equity Bank branch in Ugunja, a move expected to support the constituency’s growing business community and stimulate local economic development.

Omondi noted that the proposed branch would address the increasing demand for banking services among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), traders, and investors, while creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurship, job creation, and inclusive economic growth.

Beyond banking services, the meeting also reviewed ongoing collaborations between Ugunja Constituency and the Equity Group Foundation. The discussions highlighted programmes in environmental conservation through reforestation initiatives as well as financial literacy training targeting women and young people to enhance economic empowerment.

The MP said Equity Bank reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the constituency and expressed willingness to continue supporting initiatives that bring essential financial services and development opportunities closer to residents.

Omondi described the engagement as part of the broader responsibility of representation, emphasizing that effective leadership involves lobbying for investments, negotiating strategic partnerships, and securing opportunities that improve livelihoods and drive sustainable development.
